The lobby at La Posta has always been home to many different tropical birds. From Macaws, Mexican Red Heads, Yellow Nape Amazon, and an African Gray to
Cockatiels, La Posta's aviary has provided viewing entertainment and fun for children of all ages.
Simon, our African Grey is always whistling and getting "fresh" with the ladies while Froto, our Yellow Nape Amazon bellows "Hello" in
different octaves", sings "Polly wants a cracker" and proudly yelps "Pretty Bird". Our most recent addition is Sugar, a beautiful full grown Cockatoo, who prances around the aviary

Macaws: The Macaws are a native to Northern South America. Their size can range up to 35" in total length.

The life expectancy on these birds is 60-80 years. Sargeant and Salty have been at La Posta since 1979.
Yellow Nape Amazon: The Yellow Nape Amazon is a native of South America and Northwestern Costa Rica. Their size can range up to 13 1/2 in total length. They are very popular birds due to their gentle nature. Yellow Nape Amazons are very intelligent and quick to learn. They are also very good talkers! Just ask Froto!
Mexican Red Heads: The Mexican Red Head is a native of North Eastern Mexico. Their size can range up to 13" in total length. Life expectancy can range around 50-60 years.
Cockatiel: The Cockatiel is a native of the Australian continent. Their size can range up to 32 cm. in total length with their weight reaching 3oz. full grown. Next to the Budgerigar, this is the most popular and widely bred Parrot species, with many mutations. They are fair talkers.
